These magnificent carved wood Anglo-Indian lions are early 19th Century and are designed to impress, standing at 3 feet tall They are standing rampant and holding balls in their paws and resting on slightly later stiff leaf carved and stepped bases. They bear traces of original paint. They came from a private collector of Asian artifacts.
They are very substantial pieces carved from solid hardwood. The condition is very good considering their age, they originally would have held pennants, which are now missing.
